Where Is The Hope When All Hope Seems Lost?
Believing Jesus in me is greater than any other power.
"But deliver us from the evil one."
Matt 6:13 (NKJV) - "And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
In this plea, we seek God's redeeming presence, recognizing our vulnerability without it. Consider Peter's experience: despite his fervent declarations of loyalty to Jesus, he was warned of impending denial. Jesus revealed, "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail" (Luke 22:31–32). Jesus essentially conveyed to Peter that, left to his own devices, he would succumb to Satan's schemes. It was only through Christ's intercession that Peter's faith was preserved from collapse.
Hope In Action: Not only does Jesus intercede on our behalf to shield us from the enemy, but we are also urged to implore God ourselves for protection against the enemy's grasp.
31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, 32 but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” 33 Peter said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death.” 34 Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.” (Luke 22:31-34)
Bible Memory
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
