Where Is The Hope When we Sin?
Believing Jesus has Forgiven me.
"For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
I really have been enjoying this section of Hebrews, especially in relationship to our topic this week of dealing with Sin. So I thought I would continue on, my prayer is that as you read these words directly from God that the truth of our forgivnesss would penetrate deep into your heart and change the way you approach today.
One bit of housekeeping. Yesterday I forgot add "NOT", I wrote "KNOWING OUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN BY THE THE BLOOD OF CHRIST AND NOT BY WHAT WE DO"...but forgot the "Not". Hopefully you caught this, and paused:)
One of the things I find is that many believers fail to grasp the idea of Complete and Total forgiveness for all our sins through faith in Jesus. I know they acknowledge it as scriptural teaching, but fail to embrace it and live like it. The words below make it abundantly clear that the sacrifices made in the Old Testament were temporary, and only covered our sin, but did not take it away. But through Christ we are made perfect, once for all time through His Sacrifice.
Heb 10: (GNT)
8First he said, “You neither want nor are you pleased with sacrifices and offerings or with animals burnt on the altar and the sacrifices to take away sins.” He said this even though all these sacrifices are offered according to the Law. 9Then he said, “Here I am, O God, to do your will.” So God does away with all the old sacrifices and puts the sacrifice of Christ in their place. 10Because Jesus Christ did what God wanted him to do, we are all purified from sin by the offering that he made of his own body once and for all.
11 Every Jewish priest performs his services every day and offers the same sacrifices many times; but these sacrifices can never take away sins. 12Christ, however, offered one sacrifice for sins, an offering that is effective for ever, and then he sat down at the right-hand side of God. 13There he now waits until God puts his enemies as a footstool under his feet. 14With one sacrifice, then, he has made perfect for ever those who are purified from sin.
HOPE IN ACTION: As believers, we find solace and hope in knowing that through Christ's sacrifice, we are made perfect forever. Our sins are forgiven, and we are purified. We no longer need to strive for salvation through our own efforts because Jesus has already accomplished everything necessary for our eternal reconciliation with God.
